Having some trouble getting the car into reverse, been driving the car about 2wks now, after it sat for about 2 yrs. Clutch fluid is fine, but i cant say the same for tranny fluid, ive read that perhaps the backup switch could of seized but i havent found where this is or how to check.

Car is a 96 m6 with about 14700 miles on it

 

Is the problem that it's hard to push the lever far enough to the right to get it into the reverse gate? If so, the problem is the reverse lockout solenoid. Fuse may be blown, solenoid may be faulty, or its a wiring problem.

 

Basically, the stick goes towards reverse just wont engage, i have to pump the clutch with the stick towards reverse to get it to engage after about a min or so. What fuse could you be talking about, i check all the engine fuses and non are blown but nothing kinda stuck out at me relating to shifting issues
