Strange smell after 150mph run
Strange smell after 150mph run
I was racing a guy and held it to around 150mph, slowed down ...eveything was fine...but i was getting a real strange smell from the backseat area that I have never smelled before. It didn't smell anything like clutch and I have no idea what it might of been...any ideas?

plz tell me your kidding. Replace it immidatly unless you want to have your rear end rebuilt any time soon. I change mine at the begining of every year along with some other yearly mantinace that I do. Simple to do in your drive way just crawl under your car, might have to jack the back end up enought for you to squeez under there. Undo the bolts that hold the cover on and take a screw driver and pry the covers off and let all the old fluid drain. While the old fluid is draining clean off the cover and prep both serfaces, clean off all the old gasket material and make sure its really clean. Take some silicon sealant apply it to the covers and put it back on the rear end and bolt it back down and snug up all the bolts nice and tight. Find the fill plug, should be on the side of the pumpkin just above the axle tubes, and take it off. Fill the rear end up until fluid start comming out of the fill tube and reinstall the plug. Clean up and your all done. Oh yeah and if you have a LSD don't forget to put in some LSD/friction modifyer in along with the rear end fluid.
150 MPH?, You probably crapped in your pants (LOL)
