Steering column problem

So I am new to 4th gen cars and I have undertaken the crappy job or reinstalling the original steering wheel and airbag. First things first, I am not new to working on cars, I have been doing it on my own for years. But, sometimes I run into something I haven't had to do and am trying to figure it out. I have removed the Momo steering wheel and hub and now I want to install the airbag module which I have done, but what I did was remove the pressure plate where the steering wheel lock is.This was to see if I could gain any access to pull the long yellow wire down the column. The shaft has come loose abit and the bearing cover came out a bit. I have pushed the cover back in but now I am having a hell of a time getting the plate pushed down far enough to snap the ring in place to hold it all together. Any hints as to how I can do this, is there a special tool for this? Any info would be appreciated. I have searched on-line and have come up with literally nothing...
