I'd recommend getting the stale gas out of the vehicle by whatever way you choose, then changing the oil, taking the old plugs out, shoot a little oil into the cylinders, putting new plugs in, then you should be on your way.

That's all that was really done to my 396 when it sat up for over a year and a half after I had the oil pump driveshaft replaced. Ran better than ever.

Re: Starting a WS6 that been sitting for 2+ years!

I woke my baby from a 6 year sleep like this. It was handled in pretty much the same way yours was. Pulled into a garage, turned off and left to sit.

I changed all of the plugs, but when I pulled each plug I filled the cylinder with oil. I also changed the oil and made sure it was at the right level. I put in about 4 gallons of new gasoline and a couple bottles of generic dry gas to soak up any water that had gotten into the fuel system. I let it sit for about two hours after everything was done to let the oil drip past all of the piston rings.

A little shot of gas in the carb and it fired right up. It smoked like a demon until it burned off all of that oil that I dumped into the cylinders, but no other problems showed up.

Good luck.

I will change Batt and Oil.

I figure I can pull the ign. and crank the engine over to prime the oil system. Is there something I can spray into the intake to lube the valves and cylinders or do I need to pull the plugs and fog them?

I don't know why, I just have this gut feeling a ring is going to be rusted to a cylinder wall

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Starting a WS6 that been sitting for 2+ years!

Thanks everyone! I'm glad to say the 942 mile car is again road worthy! I did just about what everyone suggested, (after having to get thru all the spider webs under the car, and cleaning out a bunch of "little surprises" left from some mice in the engine bay

Pump the tires back to 32PSI, removed what plugs I could get to easily, cranked it over by hand (thank god nothing was seized!), then fresh oil + filter. He didn't have a gas can so we took a chance the 2 year only Sunoco 94 was still good!

Pulled just the coil wire so the injectors could squirt some fuel in and turned it over for about 5 seconds. Then pulled the injector fuse and began doing some cranking. We cranked for about 20 seconds to get everything lubed, then let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Did this about 10 times.

Once we reconnected the ing. and installed the fuse it took some time to get it to fire up. It just didn't want to fire up. Once it did the lifters were a bit noisy for the first few seconds, then all but one went silent. I ran it between 1000-1500 RPMs for 5 minutes, then shut it off, let it cool, then repeated letting it run longer each time and reving to about 2500 every minute or so. After the engine was up to operating temp the last lifer went quite and the engine was again running smooth.

Only problem other then the car being extremely filthy is the rear trans seal (M6) is leaking slightly. About a 4-5" round spot on the floor.
