Starting issues

I have a 2000 Z28 that at times gives trouble when starting. Seem that when it is cold the first attempt to start it will only crank and not fire over. Turn the key off and back on and it starts right up. The rest of the day it starts fine. It does not do ths every time either but about 50% of the time? Connection somewhere? computer? Any ideas where to look?

Clean your mass air flow sensor and run a fuel injector cleaner while at it check if your air filter is clean. Local auto parts store should have a can (Mass Air Flow sensor cleaner. Take the sensor off the car (((DO NOT DO IT ON THE CAR))) Put it in a bucket and unload the can on it for 3-5 sesion of 5 seconds bursts. Let it air dry for 5min and put it back and you should be ok. 20-30min labor

Re: Starting issues

sounds similar to my problem. not 100% from the sounds of it but mine was the fuel pump. Does your pump sound strong or faint?

Wow, I didn't think about the fuel pump. Your right I hope it's not that I know what a PITA that is, cut a hole or drop the tank. It does have 155000 miles on it so I will give it a cleaning, then if need be check the pressure at start up.
Thanks,
Ken

Install a aftermarket (Aeromotive) fuel pressure regulator. One with a gauge on it. Run if and keep an eye on the gauge. However the idling would be rough from the start and the car would just run like crap if the pump was going bad. If I can recall, fuel pump they either work or not. It can work at 60%...
