2002 Camaro Z28 Issue

Hey everyone, I bought a 2002 Camaro Z28 LS1 6 Speed 2 weeks ago from a dealer. They had a mechanic check out the car and said I need an oil change and it has an exhaust leak. My buddy is a gm mechanic and I brought him in and the car checked out good but he didnt get a chance to hear the leak. After the car is driven for a little while you hear the ticking but usually goes away, Today it was loud so I drove to a known muffler shop and he told me its not the exhaust its in the motor and to get it checked out by a mechanic. I did exactly that he said lets start with a synthetic oil change because it needs a oil change anyway after the oil change he hears it then shut the car off starts it 10 minutes later its gone. drove it home no issues and just took it out and bam I hear the ticking after a mile. When I start the car for the first time for the day you never hear it and eventually after driving it for a bit it goes away and it moves with the acceleration for sure. It sounds like under the driver side under the car. The car has hooker long tubes and full exhuast any info would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like piston slap. A lot of LS1's have it. Mine has done it since I bought it new. Do a search on this site. There are plenty of entries.

Could be your headers hitting the underbody, I thought my rods where knocking , my drive shaft must be warped and all kinds of stuff but it turned out to be my long tubes hitting the floor pans . Just a thought.

what is your oil pressure at. if you have a rod bearing going bad the oil pressure will go down really low after the car is warm.
