Spark plug boot

I just installed some Pacesetter LTs and MSD plug wires, but i got a problem with the combo of the two. I haven't gotten a chance to start it yet (waiting on some other parts) but the sixth cylinder plug boot is darn close to its primary header tube. I'm worried of meltage, and spark loss into the header. What can be done? Maybe a metal boot cover, or something. I guess the only way to know for sure now is to wait until I can start it.

Re: Spark plug boot

Didnt your car have stock metal 90* boot covers. Or is that just mine. When i did my header install/ spark plug replacement, i had probably 4 covers on some of the plugs that were closer to the manifold. Well if it did you can bend them apart a little because the msd's are a little fatter. I didnt reuse them because none of them were deadly close. MSD's hold up to heat pretty well so unless its touching are damn close i wouldnt worry about it.

Re: Spark plug boot

While waiting for my over-the-valve-cover kit to come in the mail, I was running the stock wires on my Pacesetter LTs for a couple of weeks. I had the exact same problem with the stock-style wire boot coming too close to the #6 header tube. I used a couple of zip-ties to hold the wire further away from the header and it worked fine for the couple of weeks that I had it on.

Re: Spark plug boot

I had worse case - my boot was touching primary (heads+headers unlucky combo). I got Jacobs ceramic boots - problem solved! May be overkill for your needs.

Okay! what do I have to say? I AGREE! I mistyped what I meant to say. I get it, they'll work, that's what I meant! And, I'm sure somebody makes a specific 90 degree boot shield as well. w/e it's done. I'm sorry I'm soooo stupid, is that what you want me to say?

Re: Spark plug boot

You guys are real mature! Why do I even ask any questions? Seriously. I got a bit touchy about one thing, that hit me the wrong way on the wrong way, and it escaladed from there. Now I'm the one that gets upset real easy. One time I said something about a response to a post, and from then on out everybody gives me sh*t.
David89IROC: I've been nothing but grateful for all of your help, you've given me a lot, I just got through being mad about something else when I responded in this post sorry
Injuneer: I'm the touchy one! HA! remember there @ Walmart 1/2 off (inside comment)
Sorry if I'm touchy lately, but it has been rough elsewhere for me the past month or so, and I just started taking it out on people that hit my pet pieve. . .sarcasm, degration, smartassness (new word)

I'm going to warn you again.... you've got to stop this immature arguing with people, or your posts will be deleted.
