Soon to be 2002 T/A owner with questions
Hopefully it will be here by next Tuesday. It has an LS-1 Motorsports air lid. Is it good? Someone said something exists to make the ram-air hood fully functional. Also... I assume my car being an A4 it has 3.08's? Can someone point me in a direction of most cost effective mods to do first? Not looking to go all out but make it more snappy.
Also... it has the Monsoon setup in it. Can a sub/amp be added to this system? Does it have an auxillary to hook up XM in the back? Thanks!

First of all, nice car. You could start with headers and 3.73 gears.
If you want a sub and amp I would bypass the factory system and go all aftermarket, Alpine is the way to go, but its your choice.

Since it is built into the car I would love to retain the steering wheel controls and all. What exactly is the Monsoon system? My car has an LS-1 Motorsports lid. Is it any good? How much gain on that? If the factory Monsoon head unit has an Aux connection I am good to go.

The monsoon system has a factory amp located in the spare tire area, and has 6+ speakers (not sure how many). The aux button is for a factory cd changer if equipped. The best way to add a sub and amp is to install an aftermarket HU. You can get one with stearing wheel controls if you wish, also you can add mp3 and ipod capability. Next you would have to reconfigure your speaker wiring. Depending on what you are going for, I would get a 4 channel amp and run aftermarket speakers (bypassing the factory system completely), components up front and regular speakers in the sail panels.

one lid is just as good as any other.....as we like to say a lid is a lid is a lid...
figure about 7-10hp
there are ways to make the ls1 more of a functional ram air. you'd have to look up some of the specifics for the TA hood. but the other option is to go completely separate from the hood and install a SSRA or FTRA. searches will bring up plenty of threads about each.
www.lmperformance sells the SSRA which i think is the better of the two listed...personal choice.
as stated your auto will have either 2.73s or 3.23s
a great first mod is definatly gears
beyond that....exhaust. either headers back or just a good catback to start.
suspension always helps too
and since its an auto...a good stall will make a world of difference, but that will requre some thought as far as "future mods"

It wouldn't hurt to do a search through older posts as there is alot of good exhaust related posts. Its hard to steer you in any given direction considering the options available on the market. I would tread carefully with some of the EBay kits though.

If you want to get a new CD deck for it, I know Pioneer makes adapters for their units that allow you to still use your steering wheel controls. If I had kept my Monte Carlo I would have done that.
