Some questions on the SS

Hey everyone. I just bought a new '00 SS. It's red, it has T-tops, and I had a few questions about it. The dealer told me that this particular is full SLP. What does SLP stand for? He told me that regular SS's don't have the loudmouth exhause, short shifter, and ram air intake, like this one does.

He told me it had 350 Ft lbs of torque and 345 HP. Just wondering if this was a load of bull, or what. The guys specializes in vettes and muscle cars, so I figured he'd know what he was talking about.

What are some of the do's and don'ts of the car? What are some times? (1/4 0-60)?

All I know is, this car is fast. And it sounds amazing. I had a guy in a 'Stang give me props just last night, I've only had the car for 4 days.

SLP stands for "Street Legal Performance". www.slponline.com is the website i think. I think the other owner modded the car and not SLP. I don't think SLP did the 2000 SS, but I could be wrong.

Ram aim intake??? Maybe he meant the lid, because all SSs have a ram air hood. If your air intake lid says SLP on it you got a SLP lid and higher optioned exhaust. I believe the hp rating with this package in 2000 was 335hp. I think the 345hp number is for the highest optioned SSs in the years that had LS6 intake manifolds. Well driven the car should get low 13s in the 1/4.

Welcome to the board.

Anyone got anything else for me? Like What gears it has in the rear end? I have a ram air hood that is actually functional. It has the tubes on the underside of the hood to keep everything flowing to the air box. The guy said it had SLP loudmouth exhaust, and headers. He said it also has better suspension than the regular SS.

2000 Camaro SS's Were manufactured BY general motors and the Purchasers could Elect certain "SLP Options" and all modifications were on a sticker on the door and under the hood the sticker lists all SLP-Installe doptions

If you have the 6 speed, stock gears were 3.42's. Automatics got 3.23's.
Sounds like the previous owner did some nice things to it with the loudmouth and headers.
SS's had better suspension than the Z's only if it was ordered that way.
Good luck with the new ride.

98 and 99 SSs came with better suspension which could be further upgraded. The rest of the years suspension upgrades were an option, except for all SSs received a bigger front sway bar.

I'd call SLP and ask them what options your SS was ordered with. The headers are definitely not stock. While you got them on the line you might as well get your build number too.

I don't have SLPs number I got my build number on their forum dedicated to build numbers, which they took down as soon as they stopped making Camaros.

Well, according to the guy I bought it from, all this stuff was one there stock. It was a specialized dealer, he was selling the car on consignment for a friend, a 50 year old car collector. I honestly doubt this guy modded this car... As for calling SLP that'd be great if someone had a phone number I could try.

SLP Loudmouth is definately NOT stock. They could never sell the car. That is the loudest exhuast you can buy for these cars. Its basically chambered stright pipe! Not stock.

if it was all installed by the dealer...i doubt it has headers...

simple to check...do they look like headers under the hood?

and if there is no muffler behind the axle, than it's the loudmouth

Well, it doesn't look like the stock manifold. I have seen them before. Another person who saw the car also identified the exhaust as the loudmouth. It does have a muffler.. But nothing was changed out on the car. Also, any of you guys from NH? Because that's where I'm located. I havn't seen too many of these on the road up here. That's why I'm asking.
