Unhappy Smoke =O

After putting my car back together im getting a clear colored smoke coming from the exhaust, Smells like burnt oil, and it seems to be drinking all of anti-freeze and spiting it out because the radiator is full when i check it, then i check it later and its empty and my car is overheating but its not leaking out, i just put new heads and new head gaskets on it but im afraid i might have blew another.

Re: Smoke =O

last time i changed a head gasket (few months ago on a saturn), i had white smoke coming out for ~30 miles, then stopped. But it only used up a few ounces of coolant. Yours sounds like it didnt seal properly

Re: Smoke =O

Did they check the heads and the deck for flatness?

Re: Smoke =O

Did you "burp" the coolant system after the engine was rebuilt? If not, this could explain ywhy your coolant level is down and you're over heating.

Unhappy Re: Smoke =O

yes, heads and block were checked, and yes it was burped, now its not overheating anymore but its still smoking, its really white and you can only notice it when i come to a stop or idling or stepping on it. Really want to figure it out.

Re: Smoke =O

Sounds like you need to bring it back to where the heads were installed...

How difficult to change the head gaskets? Never pulled a motor apart. I consider myself mechanically inclined though.
