Re: slp ram airbox question

The SLP online catalog shows the same part number for both the Ultra-Z and the Ram Air HO airboxes, and indicates it works with both hoods:

http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=100008

The SLP airbox is dimensionally identical to the stock WS6 airbox, lacking only the "Pontiac" and "Ram Air" logos, and does not come with the pre-molded gasket for the lid. They include some sticky-tape weatherstripping instead.

I've compared my SLP box to a genuine WS6 box, side by side, and they are identical, except as noted above.

Re: slp ram airbox question

i finally got my new airbox in and i already got rid of my old one. without the rubber peices on it it seems like its already hitting the hood. is this normal? if i look through the nostrals i can see the front of the box but i cant see the airfilter. is this normal?

Re: slp ram airbox question

It shouldn't be hitting the hood. Its normal to see the front of the filter box when you look in the grills.

but thats all i see i got the hood secound hand and its gutted. so i can reach in and hit only box. in order to get to the top of the box the air would hit it and then go up and squeeze inbetween part or the hood that comes down and the filter box. do you have pics of the back side of the inlet of the hood?
thanks for helping

Re: slp ram airbox question

I have pictures, but the server that they are on is down for some reason.

Do you want a picture of the inside of the hood near the scoop? I can e-mail you that if you do.

I know the box on my car sits a bit high, because of the Griffin radiator. We had to cut a bit off the bottom of the plastic upper radiator support bracket, then screw the bracket directly to the top of the radiator. Even with that, I have the seal strips on the hood, and they just contact the top of the box when the hood closes.

Re: slp ram airbox question

This is kinda unrelated to your posts, but I have an SLP airbox in my SS and it rubs against the bottom of the hood. I wonder if they just made them a tad too high cuz my stock one didn't rub.
