Sorry to create another window motor thread, however I'm having a small issue.

I'm trying to buy two Siemens window motors for my Z, however I can't find them stocked locally at any auto supplies stores.

Has anyone purchased this specific motor online with success? Basically the problem I'm worried about is that it seems these motors are not manufactured anymore. I want this brand to show up on my doorstep and not a substitute.

I went to AutoZone yesterday to pick these up and without realizing it they gave me the "replacement" Dorman ones. My understanding is that this brand will work, however it will only work with alterations. This is something I would like to avoid, and from what I've read the Siemens are better in general.

IMO brand won't matter/require additional alterations - all AZ motors they sell come with a lifetime warranty regardless, right?

I've found a few threads on LS1Tech where other people experienced a similar problem.

The warranty, at this point, is not a concern.

 

Surely you have other stores you can go to. Advance Auto, O'Reilly's or something like that. Look at www.partsamerica.com and order one from there, they have the brand you want if you are wanting that brand that bad.

 

Pep Boys, Autozone, and Kragen/Advance Auto are the only local places. I've called all in the immediate area and the only ones they carry are the Cardone, and Dorman brands. I haven't tried Napa yet, but I haven't seen any listing for a window motor they provide in general...

I looked at that exact website you provided before posting this thread. I just wanted to verify if any member on the forum had purchased the brand online (at any website), and if they got that specific brand. It just seems odd to me that it's not stocked at any local stores, as the Dorman brand is the "replacement."

It's just my own paranoia.
I'm really not trying to be a pain, I would just rather be safe than sorry.

 

I've decided to bump, and update this, in case anyone searches this down the road.

I was able to order the Siemen's window motor directly from Kragen. We installed the driver side this weekend and I'm very satisfied with it. It is much quieter than the AC Delco, and its a lot quicker. I can't wait to get the passenger side installed.

Overall, I'm very happy.

EDIT: Just a side note, the Siemen's motor bolted directly in. No alterations required, where as the Dorman product required some finesse.
