Should I install new plugs & o2s with header leaks?

I just got my gmmg free of leaks, however I still have leaks on the header gaskets (even with Breslin locking bolts). My 02s a shot and its missing pretty bad. However I am going to be doing a heated o2 conversion as well as switching out the plugs because they are most likely fouled.

My question is will the o2s and plugs foul out again if I have a header leak? I know I should get the header leak fixed first, but I am limited on time and garage space. Any opinions would be appreciated!

Also are there any better locking header bolts out there then Breslin? They are just a pain in the Azz to tighten because of their design. Thanks

You should fix header leak first. Fix it right the first time or dont do it at all.

what are you using for header gaskets? I used arp 1" stainless bolts w/ 5/16" head and lock washers. The smaller head is great for using box end wrench.

Fix the leaks.... they are hurting your performance.

Have you checked the header flanges to make sure they are flat? If they aren't they may never seal correctly.

95LT1conv Im using Percys aluminum gaskets http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

and Breslin split locking header bolts http://store.summitracing.com/partde...4&autoview=sku
which Summit apparently doesnt carry anymore.

Are those ARP bolts you have sold as actual header bolts? Or did you just specify depth, thread pitch, ect.? I am ready to ditch my Breslins, did your setup ever come loose on you?

Injuneer- youre definitely right, shes running terrible now. And I believe I checked the flanges when I first got them b/c I had to send back the 95+ emissions ready LTs and wanted to make sure everything was right on the offraod LTs I Originally ordered. When I get back from my business trip next week I am going to tear em off and check for trueness. Any tips on that without taking them off the car? I was thinking about getting a piece of 1/8-1/4" aluminum and holding it next to it.

You need to take them off and hold a good metal straight edge, or aluminum level against the face of the flange. I got my AS&M headers used from a friend. He checked them when he bought them and they needed to be planed to be true. I installed them 7 years ago, with the Mr. Gasket Ultra-Seal copper gaskets and ARP header bolts, and they have never required more than a quick check and a minor turn of the wrench every 6 months or so.
