Should or can I tighten up my brake/gas pedals?

My brake and gas pedals have some slight side to side play in them I would like to tighten up since it is now really noticable. I see a few bolts up there after taking apart the dash, can I just tighten things up or should I not mess with them? I do not see anything in chiltons about it so I am not sure but it definately needs to be fixed, getting worse and worse I think

I'm not sure how to answer your question. But in my opinion, if they're loose and getting worse you definately want to get it fixed somehow. Tighten down the bolts you mentioned and see if that fixes your problem. The last thing you want is your brake pedal falling off just before a red light.

check the pivot bolts, if they are tight(gas might not have one), you most likely need to replace the plastic pivot bushings
