Question Shifter Lock help

I can put my car into drive without putting my foot on the brake.
What part do I need to replace?
Also I have a ABS problem would the non working ABS make this piece not work?
Thanks,

Chris G.

Re: Shifter Lock help

The BTSI solenoid could not be receiving power or mechanically disconnected. Take the shifter cover plate off and check to see what is going on.

And once again your right.
Do I have to buy this from the dealer I can't find it online at Advance auto parts or Auto zone.
The dealer wants 40 bucks for it.
If I can't find ti cheaper I will have to go to the salvage yard.

EDIT
Well I got one at the salvage yard for 5 bucks.
I still would like to know where I can buy a new one?
BTW this thing is an electro-magnent.
I don't know how that could go bad no moving parts.
I thought it was a solenoid.

Re: Shifter Lock help

It may be a dealer item. A solenoid is basically an electromagnet. Based on how it is designed, it can perform different functions.

Question Re: Shifter Lock help

Hay Rob
I check for power at the solenoid and found out that there was power there so I went and got a solenoid from a salvage yard.
Plug it in and nothing.
I found out that there is some up and down play in the brake pedal and if I put my foot under the pedal and push up the solenoid works but the pedal falls down a tiny bit and it brakes the connection.
Is there an "adjustment" in the brake switch that controles the solenoid?
And the solenoid works I check it off the car som now I have a spair.
Thanks,

Chris G.

Re: Shifter Lock help

There definitely is adjustment on the pedal switch. It's easy to figure out when you look at it.
