Security/VATS issue...

So I bypassed the VATS about a year ago due to the fact my car would not start. Light never came on again, no problems.

Today, I stop and get gas. I get back in the car and start it and the light comes on! It stays on the whole drive home. I get home, shut off the car for a few. I was fearing the worst but it started back up with the light on again.

What the hell is going on????

I would say your bypass may have come loose.

Doesn't matter. If it came loose after the engine was already started, it will still let you start the car the next time and VATS protection is disabled.

Re: Security/VATS issue...

if it comes on after the car is already started.. it knows you aren't trying to steal it so it won't shut the fuel off... I would say, that maybe with vibration the resistor is loosing connection (after it's started and your driving) but it definately hasn't come loose or it wouldn't be alowing you to start it at all... Also.. maybe a bad security module?

yes it would, you could go out to a good car, start it, disconnect the wire, and it will start everytime until the batt is disconnected

once it looses it running, it doesn't need it till its fixed

Re: Security/VATS issue...

I have been having this same problem in, in my '94 z28 the past week. But I have not bypassed the VATS, only once has the car not started, I waited 5 mins and it cracked right up but, almost everytime I start it now the security light stays on.
