Hey, I have a 1997 Camaro z28 and have had the strangest problem with the security mode lately!

The security light never comes on, except for after I wash the car...

It stays on and does its lock-down so i can't start it for 4 minutes or so sometimes lasts 15 minutes. So, I know it isn't my key and it must be something getting wet causing it to trigger. When I popped the hood after the last wash the only things even slightly wet were the computer and its inputs.. I'm clueless.. Anyone know what could be happening? Who knows what I will do when it starts raining again..

I had the same problem on my 1994 Z28 a few weeks ago after a hard rain storm. I went to start it in the morning for work, and the security light was on. I popped the hood and jiggled harnesses cause I didn't know what else to do. Moved my tilt up and down, and reseated the key. After about 5 minutes it started up.

 

I'd bet the grommet from the PCM through the firewall isn't seated. Unbolt the PCM and move it out of the way, to see the grommet behind it on the firewall.

The only time the security has tricked me was the time I locked the car with the key fob and left someone in the car. When I came back, they unlocked the car with their finger manually and it wouldn't let me start the car until I locked and unlocked with the key fob.
