Most likely the contacts on your ignition switch that sense the security resistor on your ignition key are going bad. Common problem. You'll need to replace your ignition switch.

I think OBE1 95Z28 might have gotten confused. The contacts are in the key cylinder, not the ignition switch.

I work at Autozone and you wouldn't believe how many times people confuse the two or think they are the same thing... So annoying! lol

Before they started putting the switches on the steering column, the key cylinder was integrated with the ignition switch.

Before that, the starter button was sometimes on the floor, next to the gas pedal. Even before that, you had to get out and crank it with a lever.... (not old enough to have used that one )

mmm.... my '67 RS/SS has dash mounted, discrete key cylinder/ ignition switch.
