saggy door

I looked at a 98 Trans am with just 74K miles. It has a severely saggy door on the drivers side. What causes this? Can it be fixed easily. It is the worst I have seen

Re: saggy door

Probably just need new door pins . I'm pretty sure you can replace just the pins, and not the entire hinge . I know you can on trucks, and the hinges on our cars look much the same. Can't be all that expensive either way though?

Re: saggy door

gotta replace the whole hinge, there are no pins. I have this problem, and I looked into it. I work for GM, and they only sell hinges. STUPID!

Are the hinges hard to change? They are glued in right?

Re: saggy door

Glue?! While that would explain some severe sagging , NO, they're bolted on . 3 bolts into the door post/frame, and I believe 3 into the door itself . They don't exactly look "easy" to get to, but what else is new when you're talking about working on/around a 4th-gen?

Just take your time when lining up the door again ... try to get all the lines as straight and even as you can .

Re: saggy door

yeah, bolt in. I was actually thinking about loosening mine up, and tilting them up slightly to take the sag out for now... I know, ghetto, but hey buying new hinges does not make me go faster... its funny, I half *** everything except to when it comes to motor/trans/rear/tires...
Gotta have priorities!
Good luck man!
