Isn't it illegal to run slicks on the streets,surely you have to have tread on them to be legal

^ ^ yes, but BFG / Nitto / Mickey Thompson "drag radials" are DOT legal . There's no (legal) issue running tires like those on the street .

I know a guy who's friends cousins ex-girlfriend knew someone who played Russian Roulette with a 38-cal revolver, and had no problems at all. Guess that proves it's perfectly safe

So I guess the drag radials are of a soft compound and have some form of tread on them?

MT ET Street Radials for the win. About 3000 miles life in DD use plus dozens of track runs, maybe as much as 5000 if you never roast them, hook like a dream. Yeah, gotta behave a bit on wet, and NO snow ability, but hook like nothing else, heated up or not.

Mine live on the car.

I didn't know these had that much tread life. I don't put a lot of miles on my car, so I'll keep them in mind for when my Nittos wear out (maybe 7K on them right now).
