What is the code for an 1998 SS Camaro? On the one I am looking to buy, on the RPO Codes it says Z28. I went to a decoder website and couldnt find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

The RPO code Z28 had to be ordered with the SS which is RPO code WU8 and Z28 has to be ordered with the RPO LS1...

Also IF this car was sent to SLP for performance parts it should have an SLP sticker on the door jam.

 

My SS has no SLP sticker on the door jamn but has the right RPO codes listed, I heard a rumor that in 00-01 Chevy actually did some of the SS modifications at the plant themselves, anyone else hear this?

 

That's what I heard, SLP only did the 96-99 SS and such, could be wrong though...

 

That's correct Chevy did the basic SS in house those years. You could still get further SLP inhancements from SLP, over what Chevy did. If so you may have a Y2Y RPO code along with the WU8 code and the SLP sticker.

 

if its a base model SS then it won't have the SLP door sticker
