Road Trip mpg.

if there is a thread on this please send me their, otherwise, those of you with the ls1 and a six speed I have a question for you. My buddy and I are driving the Camaro to the Indy 500 from MN this year. At a cruising speed of 65-70 (have to watch out for the cops) can I expect the epa rated 28 mpg. I am wondering this because I am trying to budget my fuel cost. One way it is 635 miles. I have never taken it on a long trip. Usually crusing 60/40 highway city. Thanks for your help. Also this car is stock. If that makes a difference.

ttops off, cruising at 75-80 i use to get about 26-27mpg on the highway...this was with boltons.

so a bit slower and the tops on (lot less drag) i think you'll see 28mpg.

hell i still get 25mpg running my cam on the highway

Back with just a lid I got a best of 30 mpg doing 85 mph across New Mexico.
I generally ran 28 mpg though.

I'm sure you will get pretty close to the advertised rating.

Yeah, if your car is in good running order you should do that.

yes, very easily, just leave it in 6th and turn on cruise control.

I did it in the summer years ago across the country with AC on (most of the time) and all my precious belongings in the back (not much though! lol)

The low point was when there was an accident in the middle of nowhere, and all traffic came to grinding limp for like 2 hours until I reached an exit.. That low was like 12 mpg for that short section. Crawling like at 5-10 mph for 2 hours will do that.

I don't get any where near what some of you get. I got 21mpg on a uninterrupted trip, interstate driving, 600mi round trip, just a few weeks ago. Mine is an M6 convertible. SLP lid, bellows, oem exhaust, 4.11 gears, custom cam, ported Z06 heads.

My mileage was the same before the gears/cam/heads. If I drive it hard around town, I get 12mpg. They checked my 02 sensors when it was tuned about 3 weeks ago.
