Who has done it and whats the best way the remove the old and prep for the new?

All the weather stripping is easy to do, except maybe the window inner and outer seals. The rest will be obvious once you start removing it. Usually one or two small screws, several plastic push fasteners (come already in place with the new stipping), and some weather strip adhesive. Some is just pushed into "U-shaped" channels.
FYI: Buy good quality weather stipping.
