97Z28 not starting

I have a 97 Z28 M6. I drove the car to work fine, when i got off shift and tried to start it, there was no cranking sound comming at all. I even had the car jumped and it still made no sounds.. But all the interior lights, exterior lights, stereo, car alarm work fine. I just installed a brand new starter and still nothing, same problem still.

To get it started at work, the tow truck guy push started it and it fired right up.

ok i just checked out a few more things.
The battery has 12v when the car is in the on position.
The starter has 11v when power is on.
The alternator has 11v when the power is on.

tried to check the ignition coil, but it was reading 0. I don't know if I was checking it correctly (this is with the power on).. How do u check the ignition coil properly??

Why are concerned with the ignition coil?????? It has nothing to do with the starter cranking the engine over and you proved it works when you push started it. Stick to the problem at hand.

The most obvious place to start is the theft deterrent relay which just happens to be part of the pass key system. So the next obvious question is "the security light on or flashing?"

Well if the car need a push start then it the starter is bad. Now if the car didn't start at all even with the push start then it could be the ICM

well I turned the car in the "on" position and the "security" light goes away after a few seconds..

but I will check the theft detterent relay just to make sure.

I just swapped in a new starter to... what are the chances that this starter is messed up to?

Check the battery cables and terminals for major corrosion.

Under what circumstances, and at what point in the wiring, do you have 11V at the starter? What do you mean bu "when the power is on"? .... when the key is in the "on" position.

Could be the clutch pedal sensor.
