Replacing the side view mirror

I have a 94 Z28 and the side view mirrors are painted the same as the car. The driver's side mirror broke and I have another mirror. I was wondering if I can only replace the mirror and motor and install it on the original shell since its painted as the car. Thanks

Pretty sure it all comes apart, so you can do that.

Re: Replacing the side view mirror

Yes, you can. It's not very hard either. The only hard part is removing the actual mirror from the plastic plate it is stuck to, or just removing the plate with the mirror still attached. Either way, you can break the mirror. I chose to use a putty knife to push through the glue on the back of the mirror to remove it from the plate first. The plastic mounting plate has to unsnap from the motor assembly and that takes some force. The pivot pins "cross" may come loose from the plate or the motor assembly. The plastic screws on the back of the plate just snap/slide in to the motor shafts shown in the photo.
The rest is just screws and fishing in or out the wires.

I went in there to repair one of the motors that had quit working.
