Removing Traction control
when you disconnect the traction control adjuster motor the ecbm fails its diagnostic that occurs when you start the car. it thinks that the adjuster motor has an open circuit and disables just traction control. the light "traction off" lights on the dash and traction control only is disabled. abs and cruise are not affected. it is really easy to test by unplugging the adjuster motor connector and starting the car. i did mine months ago. once i was satisfied that it worked and my abs and cruise were fine i ordered
non traction cables from dal and removed the adjuster motor entirely. my engine looks better and i was able to use a regular stb with no problem. i did some hard stops on gravel to make sure abs worked and i tried the cruise, both ok.

Well I just unplugged the wires going to the TCS motor and started the car up. I didn't get the ABS light on which is good. I didn't have the TCS light come on but thats alright because most of the time when I just turn it off with the switch it doesn't light up on the dash, but the LED light on the switch didn't light up=TCS is off. So is this it to disabling TCS while keeping ABS, have we cracked the mystery?! I really hope thats it. If so I'll be ripping that FUGLY motor out ASAP!

if you have traction control there is a large black plastic lump of crap above the middle of the drivers side valve cover. the throttle and cruise control cables attach to to it. i will post the part numbers for the non traction throttle cable and cruise cable tommorow. to complete the removal the throttle and cruise cables should be replaced with non traction ones, not a difficult job, took me about 45 minutes.

do i need the other 2 cables? They make my throttle hard to open, and to go WOT, I have to really press hard. Can I just run the throttle cable? What are the adverse affects. BTW I never use the cruise control, EVER!

Just something to add....I've noticed that basically everyone who has posted in this thread is OBDI except me. Must be an OBDI thing because my ABS doesnt work (ABS INOP light) when I unplug the ASR motor as I already knew, but had to try it anyway. I was hoping to be able to sell my non-ASR EBCM and just throw the cables in, but I guess not. OBDI is so much more leniant with removing stuff.
