No one I know of has a write-up. Are you looking to just remove ASR or do you want to keep ABS too? I dont think anyone has any idea about removing ASR and retaining ABS because very few if any reply to these threads. After doing my own research after asking many times, it looks fairly straightforward and I plan to do this at the very latest over the winter. For just removing it, get a non traction control thorttle and cruise cable and throw those in. Get traction control programmed out of the computer and you're done.

Talking easy to remove

just disconnect the 2 wire plug to the tcs adjustor motor (under the black cover over the intake manifold). This causes a dtc 164 error on the ecbm and disables traction control. no effect on abs or cruise. no main pcm errors. if you like you can remove the adjustor motor and replace the throttle and cruise cables with non traction ones. a few seconds after the car is started the tcs light comes on and its disabled.

Is it really that easy? I've heard so much about different cables and other problems.

I dont think its that easy. Otherwise, it would be done quite often. Ive seen people go through all the trouble of buying new ebcm's and other stuff, and still not retain ABS when TCS was removed. However, my question is this. Is there a way to simply relocate the box? Like, to the firewall or something? Cuz I know you need to relocate it or remove it for some Superchargers, so maybe there is a way. It seems like it wouldnt be that hard, but that doesnt mean that I know how to do it! LOL!

You're right, it is not that easy to keep ABS and remove TCS. As far as I can tell, you need at least an EBCM to replace the EBTCM and the ABS sensor to install on a 3-channel rear with the reluctor ring in the pumpkin. Then the harness to connect the sensor to the harness that plugs into the EBCM. It looks like you can get away with leaving the TCS harness going from the EBCM to the harness coming from the pumpkin and omitting the traction control plug since all those plugs have the same part number with the only difference being that extra plug on TCS cars that plugs into a third spot on the EBTCM. Seems that you can just leave the TCS motor under the ABS modulator alone and it just wont be activated once the PCM is reprogrammed. Thats my take on retaining ABS while deleting the ASR/TCS. Thats how I intend to go at it once I have money for a 12-bolt so probably this winter. EBCM and throttle cable in hand already.

Afraid not. If you dont necessarily need ABS, simply replacing the cables and having traction control programmed out would be much easier.

Traction Control was RPO NW9. Too bad GM made it a huge pain to remove.

It is very simple to turn it off and have it stay off....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Traction Control Logic Module

If you’re one of the owners of a fourth-generation Camaro or Firebird equipped with traction control, you know how much of a pain it can be to forget it’s activated when you’re at the track, getting ready to make a pass or execute a burnout. You’re immediately met with a stall on the starting line or in the burn-out box when you dump the clutch in a 6-speed car, or bogging from an automatic equipped car. GM has designed your car's traction control system to activate as soon as you start the car, but sometimes it's just not necessary. SLP has come up with a new little device that actually reverses the activation of your car's TCS function, by not having the system activate until you turn the manual switch on located on your car’s dash or console. No more embarrassing or annoying moments at the track. Installation couldn’t be easier, since this device is a simple plug-in.

Yeah, that works, but for 90% of the people, the reason they dont want it, is because of that huge ugly box in the engine bay, not because they forget to turn it off once in while. Personally, I would love to just relocate it, but removing it, while retaining ABS would work also. It just sucks that its so hard to do.
