Removing EGR studs in the intake?

So when using EGR block off plates how do you take out the studs in order to use nice stainless screws? There is a star looking head on them, but I am not familiar with a tool like that to remove them. I have seen the star screws, much like an allen head, but never a socket like tool that it looks like I need for this. Thanks!

That would be a torx head. You need the proper size torx socket. Or you could probably double-nut them to pull them out.

right, torx was the word I was looking for but all I could come up with was star . I guess I knew what I needed then, I've just never heard of a torx socket . Could you explain how I can "double-nut" them? thanks!

Your kidding right??
Thread two nuts onto the stud. Tighten them against each other, i.e. tighten the top one while loosening the bottom one, until they are very tight. Then using the bottom nut, attempt to loosen it, that should unscrew the stud. If the nuts move tighten them against each other harder.
or you could get a stud removal tool from the auto parts store.

LOL, he asked about kidding because double-nutting is pretty much the standard way you install/remove a stud.
