Removing cat convertor?

Has any one removed there cat convertor? Is the computer effected by the removal of the cat? I've had alot of cats removed in the past and was thinking of having mine removed and replaced with pipe.

that's like asking if anyone ever races there carmaro...

probably 75% of people who hotrod cars remove their cats. i've done it 2 of my 3 cars.

doesn't affect the computer at all, although on obd2 cars (96+) there is a second set of o2 sensors behind the cat. if it is removed these will trip an SES light.

but this DOES NOT affect the car in any way...just an annoyiing idiot light

Yeah I friggen hate it when I sit behind someone in traffic has no cat "cUz it s0unDz mAd ko0l y0" because then I have to deal with their stench.

Put a cutout in before the cat. Non-smelly on the street, stinky at the racetrack

You'll be fine removing it from your 95. Mine is gutted...has been for years. I'm actually thinking about installing a performance cat on the car since I don't race it much anymore or really care about gaining a few ponies here and there. My tips are black. The exhaust stinks. I smell like a muffler when I'm done cruising. The exhaust is starting to get irritatingly loud to me. To me, it's not worth it anymore. There's a compromise for everything.

I just re-read what I just said. Holy crap!!! Am I getting old???????
