remote keyless won't lock

94Z- changed remote battery, keyfob will unlock the doors (both) and trunk, but it will not lock the doors. when i hit "LOCK" i heard a click from the passenger side (under dash or maybe it's in the door, not sure). what could be the problem here? thanks!

You probably just need to clean the inside of your remote..do a search..should be many threads on this topic. Basically if you take the remote part, there's a small board inside with some pads where the buttons touch to close the circuit. Sometimes those pads get a little dirty. You can use a paper towel or eraser to clean them.

nah, the remote appears fine. when you hit "Lock" you can hear a click from the passenger side. i guess this is an actuator issue? i figured if it went out it would also affect the unlocking mechanism also.

Don't know if your year is the same, but on later models sometimes the remote needs resynchronization after a battery change. Press and hold the remote lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for a few seconds - the locks should cycle and parking lights flash. Something easy to try....

The keyless entry is under the passenger side kick panel, so that probably explains the click you're hearing. Why, though, I'm not sure. Borrow another FOB from a friend with a GM and program it and see if it works, my money is on that it's your receiver module.

Take your FOB to the dealer and have them check it. They have a tool that can tell if the signals are being sent out. But don't buy a new one from them. They wanted like $80 from me, plus $40 to program it. The dealer manual has instructions to program it, and I laughed in their faces.

Having similar problem.. when i try to open the hatch with the FOB. I can see the light go on inside the car but the hatch doesn't click. Seems to work sometimes, and not others... but always works fine when you hit the button on the glove box.
