rear hatch demister

Now that the UK mornings are getting a little cooler and wetter, I have noticed that my rear window demister switches off in less that a minute.

I have a 1996 Camaro Z28, is this normal or what do I need to do to increase the time before it switches off?

Normal time is around 10 minutes, then if turned on again 5 minutes..... Might be the switch is bad....

Wow, the start of the yearly question about the defogger shutting off too soon. It's like a ritual around here.

The age of the system seems to cause an increase in electrical resistance that causes the breaker to be over-taxed. I put in a 30 amp fuse in instead of the breaker years ago. It has worked fine ever since. Keep some spare fuses handy just in case you need them. They don't reset like a breaker. The power seats are on the same circuit.

I also used a fuse instead of the breaker, after putting two breakers in and both failed in about three weeks. The fuse hasn't failed yet, and it's been in there a couple of years.

Shoebox,

Many thanks - once again - you were spot on. Replacing the breaker with a fuse (of the same rating) has solved the problem.

Cheers,

Graham
