Rear Hatch

I owned a 92 camaro rs and the rear hatch on it had a power unit similar to what is on a lincoln or a cadillac. I haven't seen very many 3rd gens but my question is did they come with a power unit or was that added on by a previous owner. I am asking because I would like to put one on my 4th gen. Has anyone done this and does it just bolt straight up or is there any modification to it. I wish now I would have looked at the one on my old car, but the thought never crossed my mind.

The cars came with the power hatch.
Probably a factory option.
I guess you could put one in on your 4th gen.
But it will only be able to just pop the lock.
On the 3rd gen it pulls it down and locks it.
And you can pop it too.

Re: Rear Hatch

Even putting the whole assembly in it it still wont pull it down like it did on the 3rd gen? I have a power hatch release but I am interested in it pulling it down, I think it will seal better and not have as many problems with rattling.

Yea they don't pull down on the 4th gen's.
I guess it's better that way.
My dad has a cadillac and he has the type that pulls it down and you have to be care full not to slam the door down.
I broke it once he almost killed me.
Well if its rattling there must be some kinda of adjustment on it.
I wish I could be more help but I don't know how or if it can be adjusted.
Maybe take it to a body shop they should know.

There are two adjusters under the lip of the hatch. Try screwing them out a bit, lengthening them. That should stop the rattling, which is a common problem.

Thanks guys I knew there were adjustments I was just hoping with the motor off the 3rd gen it would pull it down and keep me from having to adjust it ever so often

Hay I just saw in you sig that you have a holley annihilator ignition on you 96 camaro.
Witch one do you have?
I bought one for my race car I'm putting together and was going to get there top of the line one but they stopped making them.
So I'm probably going to use something else and I did not think it would work on my 97Z28.
Thanks,
