Rag Joint

Can someone explain what it is? I know its part of the steering, but what is it exactly? I have seen a ragjoint kit that helps steering better for $32. Will it help?

Mine had about 150k on it and 9 years, so I went ahead and did the Ragjoint eliminator. Not hard to do, plus seemed like a slightly more resposive/feeling in the wheel. Although I did the 35mm solid sway at the same time. I would recommend it, especially for the price and short amt of time required to change it. A grinder is great for removing the stock rivets.

The rag joint is located on your steering intermediate shaft (the shaft on the driver's side of the engine bay that connects between the steering wheel and the rack-and-pinion). The rag joint is enclosed in a plastic shield.

I too have done the rag joint eliminator. It did not produce an incredibly drastic change on my car, but for $30, I'd recommend it.

If you do decide to do this, have fun with the rivets. They wont come out without a fight.

This should give you a fairly good description:
