Questions about 4th gens

I am new to 4th gens. I have a 3rd gen. I am looking at a 99 Z. Any info would be appreciated. What is the difference between a ls-1 and the 5.3 and the 6.0 that are in the trucks. What is the horsepower and torque of a stock ls-1. What auto tranny was put in the 99's, is it the 4l60e. Did they put any limited slip diffs in, what gear ratios did they use.

The LS1 in that model is rated at 305 hp and 335 torque but most agree that is under rated.

Yes the 4l60e with either 3.23s or 2.73s and the 3.23s come with a aluminum drive shaft. The 3.23 is limited slip I don't know about the 2.73s. Also don't know how the LS1 compares to the GM truck engines.

All automatic SSs recieved 3.23s. For Z28s you would have to check the RPO codes (located on the drivers door) to see which gears the car was ordered with. RPO code GU2=2.73s a steel drive shaft, RPO GU5=3.23s with aluminum drive shaft.

The L98 and LS1 is like comparing a towtruck motor to a detuned racecar motor.
