99 Ss

hey guys, my friend just got a 99 Navy Blue SS 6 spd. i was wondering how rare is this car, the guy told us that there were only 7 navy blue ss made in 99 and we wondering if that was true. also it has WUA on the vin, so i dont know if that means anything either. i just wanted to know how rare of a car my friend has.

Re: 99 Ss

I have never heard of one being that rare. Wish I knew the answer. In 99 they had to be at least at 6k SS's a year.

Re: 99 Ss

I couldn't find the real numbers, but according to this: https://www.camaroz28.com/articles/9...rs/index.shtml, Navy blue was the 5th most popular color, so I highly doubt the SS would be that rare, unless he happens to have a 1LE..

Re: 99 Ss

He lied if all he said was 7 navy blue SSs. If it has white leather or 1LE then maybe. I most likely think he was lying. 4,829 SSs built in 99 and navy blue is a fairly common color.... Hugger Orange on the other hand.

Re: 99 Ss

Enlighten me on the white leather. I have white leather and have found people either love it or hate (i have grown to love it.) Is this a rae option? Is this a rare option because nobody wanted it? My spoiled friend has 2 hugger Orange 99's, one with white leather, that's gotta be a rare f-body?

I have grown to love it but damn is it tough to keep to keep noce and clean.

Re: 99 Ss

It's fairly rare. Not as rare as Hugger Orange, mostly because Hugger Orange was only offered for one year, well since the sixties at least.

I see a hugger orange LT1 around here, were they offered or no, or was it a custom paint job?

Re: 99 Ss

Thanks Tsar. I find also that people either love it or hate it. i dont know if it goes as well with the car now since the outside of the car is blue and silver, and the inside is grey, painted blue interior, and white seats. Oh well, i like it. I wish i had a hugger orange, i would trade my car straight across for some of that action .

hahahah i was looking at that same car about a week ago, i gave the salesperson a little tip: don't ever try to bull**** a mechanic!!! He was trying to sell that car for 17,000 just because he said it was a rare color and only 7 were made I told him i would give him 12k for it and he turned it down, i drove there a couple of days ago in my sunset z28 and told him now thats a rare color, he got mad and replied "yeah its probably a lemon" Gotta love used car salesmen. I hope your friend wasn't stupid enough to buy it for 17k.

Not rare at all and not much different than a regular Z28.
