Question when installing a bullet muffler.

I'm going to be replacing my cat tonight with a bullet muffler, and i was wondering if i should drill a hole in the bottom of the muffler to let condensation drain out of it. I see a lot of regular mufflers with these holes and considered it on this dynamax bullet muffler. I figure it increase the life of the muffler by not having water sitting in it. The bullet has a unique design so i didn't know if this would sound like an exhaust leak or what. Also i'm gonna post a pic for you guys that don't know what a bullet muffler looks like on the inside. I never wanted to install an extra muffler because i thought it would be just more restriction but these things have no restriction at all. If this cleans up my exhaust sound i'll be glad to have it in there in place of the cat, because my cat can't take the abuse of my heads and cam setup.

Re: Question when installing a bullet muffler.

It will help with the rasp and stuff, not fix it though. Also quite it just a small amount. Don't worry about a drain hole, any moisture should blow out.

Re: Question when installing a bullet muffler.

I just installed it and it does sound pretty damn good. It took all the rasp out of my Corsa so now it sounds real clean. I'm very happy with the new muffler. I didn't drill a hole in the muffler so i hope it won't rot out super quick.

Re: Question when installing a bullet muffler.

Works good with my Borla, I dont have a drain hole cause I dont want black filth in the garage floor. Dont worry about it.

Re: Question when installing a bullet muffler.

Ive been wanting to do this to and put it in place of my cat. I have a 94 T/A so will it set off a code for the cat being gone? Also will it sound good? I have Mac mids, highflow cat, and Magnaflow catback so I don't know what difference in sound and performance a bullet muffler will make in place of the cat. Fill me in please

Re: Question when installing a bullet muffler.

Call me crazy but i think i felt a gain by ditching the cat for a straight pipe but i'm also running heads and cam so that may make a bigger difference. The Bullet muffler is kind of in between a straight pipe and a cat in sound. It sounds 10x better than a straight pipe with my Corsa but not as good as my cat sounded in the same set up. The exhaust is significantly louder than running a cat. Unless you upgrade your engine setup, or you think your car is too quiet i'd just leave the stock cat in.
