You have to turn the heat on when it's in the defrost setting for it to work efficiently, if there's no compressor.

on the LS1 cars, all that is needed is to pull the a/c belt

i also have a question to throw in on this one, what kind of gains can you expect to see from this? (having a newer engine put in and my a/c never really worked all that well, so im considering delete also)

oh and in my searches i ran across thsi too..
