Question. BCM's all the same?
Re: Question. BCM's all the same?
Not sure about the interchange, but for direct compatibility, the other BCM would need to come from a car that had identical power options. Also, a used BCM has a 1 in 15 chance of matching your ignition key pellet for the VATS. So, there is little chance an unknown BCM will work, if VATS is a concern. A brand new BCM programs itself to your key on the first ignition cycle. After that, it cannot be changed.
Re: Question. BCM's all the same?
Thanks for the reply Rob! I actually answered my own question when I checked your site, after posting. I have an option grouping with RPO AU0, but in theory not ALL BCM's with AU0 would work, correct? Even though my pellet is bypassed? See, here's the problem. After a clutch swap, I'm getting a no-start condition. Did the resistor mod years ago, starters good, I'm even getting 12volts to the solenoid with the ignition on. Replaced clutch switch also. Still no start. VATS is NOT programmed out of the ECM, yet.... And I'll be bypassing the TDR next. But if I'm getting 12volts at the solenoid, TDR should be good right? The cars stuck somewhere other than my house too
so I might have more questions if i can't figure it out. Any ideas you might have would be a huge help. Thanks again
