question about cams.

I'm getting ready to buy a cam, and although I know there are different brands & grinds, I was hoping you guys could give me some general advice.
Possibly on name brands and maybe a good link to buy...

It's a daily driver, not alot of mods on it just cai and a flow master.

any comments are welcome.

Sounds like a good choice...my budget is around $$250 so I was looking at comp cams, would you say these are also a good brand to go with?? any idea of the hp gains??

Re: question about cams.

The cc305 is a compcam grind. The hot cam and cc305 are very similar and can be had for about the same price. Check the supporting vendor list for good places to purchase.

Re: question about cams.

Do I need to get the valve springs to see real power. I know it helps, but is it neccessary to do it now??
I talk to some guy over at thunder racing & he said I would see any power gains if I didn't get the springs !! is that true??

Re: question about cams.

You would definately need springs. I would never swap to a larger cam without getting the appropriate valve springs. You could suffer some serious engine damage if the stock springs aren't up to the task of the new cam. I'm not sure what the stock springs will handle, but I would replace them anyway if you have a significant amount of miles on the engine.
