question about AC

hey everybody a few months ago,i had a repair shop work on my AC they replace the condensor and a couple of hoses for the AC,when i got the car back from them, after a month the AC wasn't working anymore,it just blowing out warm air,it wasnt cold anymore. that cost ($600 parts & labor)

So then i took it back to them they were looking at for awhile to try and figure it out,as i was in the driver seat when the car was running, the mechanic checked for leaks no leaks detected and frion was full he said,he also was grounding i believe which was the ac comp relay insertion the air was very cold, i told them i felt the air coming out cold, then he told me he was grounding it.

Then he told me Id have to leave the car there so he can tear off the dash and find the wire that has a low ground, but then i told him thats ok ill bring it another day, because i didnt trust him after i paid him all that money for all that work. I never went back to him since then.

But as of today its getting hot outside so i decided to try to get help from you guys to get it the AC working, i turned on the AC the air feels cool but not as cold as it was before when it was workin, and my V6 was way colder when i had it. i checked the HVAC fuse it was fine. What else can i check so my bro and i can go from there. I apologize for the long story guys and will gladly pay you tuesday

Re: question about AC

Sounds like your compressor isn't coming on. Try pulling the pcm fuse for a few seconds. You can also disconnect the battery if you'd rather do that.

ill try to disconnect the battery but wheres the pcm fuse at? i already pulled the hvac fuse to check it out and the fuse is fine. but when i turn the ac on the compressor makes a weird noise that is hard to explain i would say like a bearing noise. So could my compressor be bad or how can i tell if its a bad one.thanks guys

Re: question about AC

If your compressor clutch is engaging there isn't any reason to pull the fuse or disconnect the battery. Since the tech was jumping the clutch I thought resetting the PCM might fix that problem. If the refrigerant gets low it can cause the PCM to stop engaging the clutch and it can be reset by pulling the fuse. The fuse is in the panel on the drivers side of the dash. I don't remember which one it is but its shown on the chart that is on the panel or in the owners manual.

Since you said it was blowing cold when the shop jumped the compressor, and the shop apparently didn't say anything was wrong with it, I would guess the compressor is okay.

Re: question about AC

Does the fan come on when you turn on the a/c. If it doesn't the a/c won't cool at slow speeds. I thought maybe the shop was jumping the fan relay instead of the compressor.
