push button start
I read through some search results but didn't find the answer I needed. both of the plastic pieces on my ignition where I put the key broke off leaving sharp points and I can't really turn the key without pain to my finger and thumb. I was thinking about push button start after seeing my friend use one in his ford truck. I want to turn the key to on and go from there. would I still have to run wires to the solenoid on the starter or whatever? my friend just turned the key to on, pushed the button once and his started. so basically can anybody help me figure out how to wire this? thanks in advance
I found this guide

whether it works or not I will have to wait and see.

my 89 camaro was pushbutton. All I did was to splice into the hot wire on the outfeed end of the ignition turn the switch on and theres power to the button then the outfeed side of the pushbutton goes to the solenoid it's really quite simple.. and kind of funny when your friend cant start the car cause he didnt know it had a pushbutton. I dont know if its any different on the newer engines though. my camaro was de-brained and rean a 70's model engine
I added a pushbutton start when my ignition switch failed in my old 73. I just ran some wires from the starter and the solenoid though, routed them through the firewall, and mounted the pushbutton on a blank spot where there was supposed to be a rear defroster button. Might be easier if you don't feel like getting into your steering column. Be sure to wrap everything up though.
The smaller wire to the solenoid is the one that activates it correct? Does that just need to be connected to a 12V source and how much amperage do you think it would need? (i.e. what fuse to use?)
