pulling motor...tranny fluid question

ok, last time I pulled my motor out the bottom. I drained the tranny fluid but evidently there was still a good bit in there because without the driveshaft in place and the tranny tilited back the slightest bit the last of the fluid came out the back and I had a big slippery mess on my floor.Someone told me to place some plastic wrap and a rubberband over the back of it, but that didn't work for **** .
Now I have to drop it out the bottom again and dont want to deal with that mess again. I was thinking of buying a big cork or something to just plug it up.
Has anyone done anything that worked, and can pass on some ideas?

I just kept mine as level as possible, very minimal loss.

We cut the top cone off a plastic Coke bottle (leave the cap screwed on), so the diameter of the cone is just slightly larger than the tailshaft hole, and push the plastic piece of the bottle into the hole and duct tape it.

or you could find some hose / tubing with the correct OD from the local Napa / Home Depot and shove a PVC cap in the tube as a plug?

However, I do like Injuneer's solution better!

leave your driveshaft in trans housing. or go to a junkyard and buy an old d/s or just the yoke.
