Re: problem

residue carbon mixed with water. the water comes from condesation of water vapor from the exhaust.

fairly typical

maybe drill a small hole like 1/16", in the lowest part of the cutout...to allow drainage

Re: problem

thanks... well it is good to know that it isnt bad...

do you all that have cutouts have what i call "drone zones" which are like certain rpms where the exhaust just like resonates and vibrates so loud? mine is between 2k-2.5k.... is this normal?

well if i were to drill a hole i would have an exhaust leak and i like to cap it when i am trying to be classy

thanks for the quick replies

Re: problem

the drone you are hearing is just the resonance frequency...and yes it will be different from setup to setup.

a LM setup will be different from a cutout, which will be differnt from true duals...etc.

kindda like watching the antenna when you are driving...at 50mph it will be as straight as it should be. at 60mph it may be whipping around like a mistress was playing with hit.

and the hole i mentioned....if you drill a small enough one, you'll never know it was there. do you really think a 1/16" hole will make an audible increase?

but it WILL allow some water to drain out so that it isn't sitting there corroding inside the exhaust. water combined with the natural chemicals found in exhaust can create a very caustic liquid...rusting out the metal of the cutout over time. that's why most aftermarket exhausts are aluminized or stainless...to prevent corrosion from outside AND inside.
