Power window/radio problems

I am having problems with the power windows and radio in my recently purchased 97 TA. Sometimes the radio will cut out, and at the same time the power windows won't go up or down. I can slap on the top of the dash above the center vents, and it will usually all start working again for a while. I have seen some type of module with two plugs behind the radio, along with a relay beside it, but i don't know what they are. Maybe it has something to do with the circuit that lets the radio play and the windows go up/down with the car off until you open the door? Any help?

Also having brake light problems: the center spoiler mounted brakelight always works, but the lower ones don't always work. don't think it could be the switch on the pedal, as the center one always works, but not too familiar with 4th gen wiring. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the R.A.P. module..... retained accessory power.

That listing on shoebox's site is for a 95, I looked in the parts manual for a 97, and it doesn't show a RAP module, but it does for a 95.

The body wiring diagram in my Chiltons for 96/97 references the RAP module.... not that Chiltons is as reliable as the factory manual. Did you take the time to look under the dash and see if you have one?

What does this mean? Why did you feel it necessary to call me names for trying to help someone?

I dont think he was calling you a name. Note the commas, I think you just read it out of context

yes i looked, didn't see anything like that. The manual i looked in was a GM 1993-2002 parts manual, couldn't find anything. maybe it's in a different location than the 95 camaro, or they call it something else. I was hoping someone else had similar experence, or at least a factory service manual so i could tell where it is.

I found the RAP . after i located it it took it off the harness then i used a wire tester to find if any were getting power . Well none of them were , so then i tested for ground and 3 out of 4 had grounds . To me that means that wire not getting a ground is somehow not connect or getting any power of any sort . So i ran an ignition hot to that wire and hooked all back up and volia ! everything is working again , now im gonna see why its not getting power cause this will work for now but I'd only reccomend it for a temporary fix !
