Power window power issue.

** Posted this in LS1 Tech and could not get a response from anyone**
I have a 94 Camaro and both power windows not working. Motors replaced along with master switch. Chased problem back to no power on the hot side of the 30 amp window breaker. Wiring diagram say it comes from Ignition power relay. Where can I locate this relay, and if the relay was bad wouldnt I also have issues with the rest of the Key on accesories in the vehicle???? Please help if you can and thank you....

Re: Power window power issue.

LS1 Engine Tech is for engine related questions on the LS1 engine used in the 98-02 models. You have a 94 Z28, which has the LT1 engine. But you don't want to post a question about power windows in the engine tech forums. And nobody uses this "Advanced Tech" forum any more.

I'll move this to the "General 67-02 F-Body Tech" forum, where you are more likely to get a response.

Re: Power window power issue.

ohh sorry I worded that one wrong. I was trying to get answers to this on LS1tech.com, not ls1 tech catagory on this site. Just need to know where this relay is located that controls power to the power window 30amp breaker. I'm assuming this is a seperate relay then the one that controls the rest of the Ignition Powered components due to everything else( radio, door chime, gauges, lights, ECM, fuel pump) get power when the key is turned on. This is the only curcuit that does not recieve ignition power when its suppose to.

Re: Power window power issue.

The power power distribution diagram in the 94 factory manual (assuming you have RPO AU3 - power door locks), page 8A-10-2 shows that the window breaker and the radio fuse receive power from the ignition switch, via the retained accessory power (RAP) module. There is no relay shown.

Re: Power window power issue.

If the radio also does not work, it is probably the RAP module.

Re: Power window power issue.

That's what threw me off... he indicates in the second post that the radio works.

Re: Power window power issue.

Well radio was my mistake sorry, I tested the orange and not the yellow(no radio in the car at this time).... You are correct no power at yellow wire from RAP. Now I have to locate the Module, test the red for battery power and the brown for ignition power and if they are both hot I should have the culperate. thanks for the help guys I should have time Wed. to chase it down.
Thanks,
-Paul

Re: Power window power issue.

Go to Shoebox's website. He has a photo showing the location of the RAP module.

Did Both of your Power Windows Stop Working like the person in Post #1?

You might want to create a Signature of your vehicle so people will be able to help you better.

There is a relay, but it is an internal part of the RAP module (Retained Accessory Power).

Read Posts #4 and #5 to help you.

This link to Shoebox's website shows you where the RAP is located.

And this link is the Schematic

If you are posting from a phone, it may not append a signature. If that is the problem, you are going to have to type the basic info about your car in every request for help. The 4th Gens are not all the same, with significant changes from year-to-year. We have to know the year, etc. to give you accurate help. With regard to this topic, the RAP function, which is the "relay" you are apparently asking about, was only used 93-95. In 96 the RAP function became part of the body control module (BCM).

Re: Power window power issue.

So.... if you have a 1996, you don't have a RAP module, still assuming that was what you meant when you asked about a "relay".

The RAP feature is in the body control module (BCM). They are prone to printed circuit board problems, but can be repaired D-I-Y. The BCM controls many different functions, that used to be controlled by several modules.

What is the specific problem you are trying to solve?
