Power steering pump

Hello,

Just finished my new build and the motor fired up and runs great. When putting everything back together, I decided to change the power steering pump with an ac delco reman unit. The old one was ok but figured it was good preventive maintenance. My new pump is noisy. Seems like it is aerating the fluid.

I have tried to bleed it out but its still noisy. Has anyone else run into this problem?

To bleed it I turned the wheels back and forth 20 times with the engine off. Installed new lines with new o-rings and there are no leaks.

Car has about 20 minutes of run time on it since the new motor. Could it need to run more?

Thanks!

Try turning it back and forth to full lock with the engine running. Don't turn it fast. When it gets to full lock, wait a while before starting to turn it back to opposite lock.

Thanks will give that a try. Also, I used regular PS Fluid when I refilled the system. SHould I have used ATF? The old fluid was not transparent (redish) like the fluid I just used.

It takes a while to get the air out. A way to help is use a vacuum pump and cover the top of the pump and creat a vacuum(without getting fluid in the vacuum pump)It takes alot of tries but this speeds up the process a little. If not letting it sit not running slowly brings the air up to the surface. No quick way unless you flush the system
