Power steering pump?

Power steering pump?
I drove my 81 z28 for the first time in months today, and its got a steering problem. Whenever I turn the wheel all the the to the left or right it stalls. I talked with my dad and we figured the power steering pump is going bad, Could it be anything else?

Also it also only happens during low to no throttle, Because I drove it in a circle while cranking the wheel all the way to the left and it did just fine. But when I took it in the road to back it up when ever I cranked the wheel to either side it would stall.

Probably is the pump going bad. Does it whine at all? I would also check for vacuum leaks. You could possibly have a vacuum leak that isn't bad enough to cause the car to stall at idle but when you put that extra load on the engine by turning the steering it could be causing the engine to lag down and then it can't build back up enough to idle again cause of the vacuum leak.
