Question CSR Ewp Info Please - LT1

i had to repost this here cause no one answered in the lt1 forum

i am almost done doing the ewp in my car, but the csr pump has such a small o ring on it, its kinda scary. i couldn't reuse the gasket that goes around that inspection cover or whatever it is on the stock water pump housing, i called the down the street, they couldn't get it, i went to a pontiac dealer, they didn[t show that gasket on the screen just that o-ring.

what did you guys use for a gasket or where did u get one? i was thinking rtv but that surface on the ewp is machined really smooth so i am sure it would probably just get pushed out and leak at one point. any suggestions

Sometimes you have a better chance of a response by using a more specific/descriptive "topic"..... see if what I changed it to works better.

O-rings seal quite well, I actually preffer an O-ring to a gasket if I have the choice. Your ac system uses o-rings and it sees higher temperatures and pressures than your cooling system will ever see.

thanks Injuneer

i like o-rings too but if u look at the one on the csr, it definitly doesn't look like it will seal good against the housing, the ac system uses them but they have both flush surfaces that they mate too, the waterpump housing is a not a smooth surface while the csr surface is

ok used rtv and sealed it, should work, got everything back on, went to put in the thermostat and noticed that the 160 one that summit sent me is way to small and drops into the housing, guess they gave me the v6 one.
