Potent Gas Fumes - Where To Look?

My car has been getting more and more fumey, especially after fill-up, which would be normal but it is very potent. I can handle it....sometimes, but passengers cannot. Anyone ever had this problem and can give me an idea where to look?

I would start with inspecting your EVAP system from the gas tank to the engine. Make sure all hoses and fittings are attached. Also check for leaks in the lines as well as a cracked charcoal canister. If everything looks alright, it is possible that your fuel cap isn't sealing (can tell it isn't if you don't hear a hiss when opening it) or the canister may need replacement.

Dammit, I haven't been hearing a hiss when I open it ever since my original cap got stolen and I replaced it with a locking cap from Kragen...cheap P.O.S...

Get the correct, NON-VENTED cap from Stant. But its more likely one of the problems described above with the EVAP system. A cracked hose would eliminate the "hiss".
