According to the Camaro White Book, the code for '96 maroon is "96" = Cayenne Red Metallic. That's the only color that could be called maroon.
Look on the service parts identification tag in the glove box. The paint codes are on the bottom line, to the right of the "WA-" marking. There can be as many as three of them - upper body (U), lower body (L) and accent color (A). They are 4-digit codes.
